The Plainspoken Blueprint · Gather Studio

Most businesses
have it backwards.

There's a sequence to getting a business seen, trusted, and chosen. Almost every business skips step one and wonders why steps two and three aren't working.

01
Foundation
Message

What you're saying and who it's for. Until this is clear, every other decision is guesswork. A beautiful brand on a confusing message still loses the client.

Fix the message first. Everything else is built on top of this.

  • Who your customer actually is
  • The real problem you solve — in their words
  • Your one-sentence answer to "what do you do?"
  • The story that moves someone from stranger to client
  • Blueprint session — 90 min, one clear message
02
Expression
Brand

How you look while saying it. Logo, color, typography, photography. Brand expresses the message visually. You can't audit a brand without knowing what it's supposed to say.

Brand without message is decoration. Message without brand is invisible.

  • Logo — does it anchor the page or just float?
  • Color — intentional palette or accidental drift?
  • Typography — deliberate hierarchy or defaults?
  • Photography — real people and results, or stock?
  • Consistency across web, social, print, email
03
Amplification
Content

Every place you show up — website, social, email, ads, podcast, blog. This is where most businesses start. It's the last phase. Content without the first two is just noise.

Ads don't fix a broken message. They amplify it. Content is last. Always.

  • Website — the hub everything points to
  • Social — consistent voice across platforms
  • Email — nurture sequences and newsletters
  • Blog + podcast — organic reach over time
  • Ads — paid amplification of what already works
"StoryBrand fixes the words. The Plainspoken Blueprint fixes the order."

I already have a brand and website. Where do I start?

We start with a free audit. Most businesses that already have a brand and website are in the right phase — they've just built on a weak message. We find out which phase actually needs work and go from there. We don't rebuild what works.

How is this different from StoryBrand?

StoryBrand gives you the right structure for your message. The Plainspoken Blueprint gives you the right order to make every decision. Most StoryBrand sites still don't convert because the words are correct but the decisions that preceded them were in the wrong order.

Which phase am I actually in?

Most businesses think they're in phase three when they're still in phase one. The tell: you're posting consistently but it's not converting. You're running ads but they're not producing. You've rebuilt your website twice. Start with the free audit.

Do you do all three phases?

Yes. Blueprint session covers message. Brand audit covers visual identity. Web design, content, social, email, and digital advertising cover phase three. Most clients start with the Blueprint session and we scope what comes next from there.
