Why this exists

Local knowledge — the kind that tells you a hardware store has been in the same family for 47 years, or that a building was originally a post office — is disappearing. It lives in the heads of people who were there, and when they're gone, it's gone.

Gather History is the attempt to write it down before it disappears. One business, one building, one corridor at a time.
